Introduction :

Christian mission was supposed to be an organized effort to propagate the Christian faith, among a population1. Mission was to send individuals and groups who are called missionaries, to foreign countries and number of places in their homeland for the purpose of preaching, a set of beliefs, to take over humanitarian work among the poor, to administer sacraments to improve economy, literacy, education, health care and orphanages2. Thousands of missionaries came to India for these purpsose and some among them came to Pondicherry.
Very well known were men missionaries, who came to Pondicherry for the purpose of evangelization. Women (sisters) are less concentrated and not given much recognition about their works in evangelisation. My article tends to bring into light, the evangelical contributions given by the sisters(women) who toiled, made self less sacrifies in order to uplift the one time fishing village of Pondicherry to have faith in God.
Puducherry region:
Puducherry is bounded by the Bay of Bengal on the east and by South Arcot district on the other sides, it is irregular boundary winding in and out of the district in a complicated manner.
