Royal blood spilled
At approximately 11:45 last night a teenaged member of the infamous gang the "Royals" was
fatally stabbed in an alleyway in the Bronx by a member of the "Guardians" the "Royals" sworn
enemy.
The death of Andrew Akerson age 17 marks the 68th life taken this year in the bloody
feud between the rival gangs.
The feud started in October when Jim Lufter long suspected of being the “Royals” leader
slept with the sister of the “Guardians” mysterious leader. Not realizing what he had done until
members of the “Guardians” made an attempt on his life Jim shot and killed his assailants and
claimed self defence. Unable to prove otherwise the authorities were forced to release him.
About three weeks later Jim Lufter was found dead in his apartment the words “Guardian
revenge” written on the wall; the gangs have been at war ever since.
Andrews death has been a wake up call for members of the community and several
teachers, parents, and community leaders have come together to raise awareness of the terrible
acts of violence gangs cause.
Andrew's parents were not even aware he was involved in the gang they say he was
doing well in school. "His average was above 75 he was on the Basketball team he was doing
great.....".
This shows that gangs are a problem for all teens not only those considered “at risk”.
Detective Kreeve had this to say “ Gangs tend to target teens by making them feel like they are
part of something protected and cool and therefore are problem for all teens regardless of their
background. Sure if the teens father is the head of a gang he is more likely to join but gangs still
pose a significant threat to all teens.”.
Crime scene investigators say Andrew left the school dance at around 11:30 to go get
