Sac and Fox Tribe: Problems
American Indians face different problems to save their culture and identity. They are struggling to save their existence through different means. The Sac and Fox tribe is not spared from this. There are different problems like drugs, drinking, health care, unemployment, and cultural degradation in the Sac and Fox tribe. The cultural system and language are the most important means to sustain ethnic identity (“Native American”). The tribe is facing major problems in protecting its culture.
The other factor of cultural degradation in the Sac and Fox Tribe is modernization. Today, significant numbers of people from the Sac and Fox tribe go to schools run by other people than the tribe. They meet people from different cultures. Young members from the tribe love to party at the clubs more than to join their cultural programs. They love to wear modern dresses rather than their cultural dress and most of the time they don’t speak their own languages. These all activities gradually fall hard on the tribe’s ancient culture.
