In a country that says equality for all, no one has the right to say if one is fit to raise a child. When some one is in love they should be able to show it regardless of who like it or not. When someone works hard they deserve the same rights and benefits as everyone else. With all that in mind same sex couples should have the same right as any other individual regardless of their sexual orientation. “They are citizens, they pay their taxes, and are caring parents, but they don’t have the same equality as other Americans” (Thompson141).Therefore, same sex couples should have the following rights: Adoption, marriage, and Job Benefits.

First of all , rights same sex couples should have is adoption. When adoption is mentioned in a same sex relationship ,mixed thoughts comes to mind. Many of those thoughts are negative, but a lot of the time people forget the positive. ‘’The effect that same sex couples have on children is not proven to be negative‘’(Thompson 134). These children should not be deprived of qualified care givers. All children deserve a chance at a good life which starts with a family. Children deserve the security of two legally recognized parents. This gives them the security of a home , family, and a new found hope at life. “The American civil liberties union estimates that 8 to 13 million children are being raised by gay or lesbian parents.” (www. buddy buddy.com/parent.html)This shows that a parents sexual orientation has nothing to do with a child’s well being. Having parents regardless of their choice of gender for a lover, should not affect what they have to offer a child. There are so many children in need of parents, many same sex couples will make great parents. All of these different cases affect society one way or another. If more children are adopted there will be children more in school and less children in jail which will save money on institutions.
