Argentina’s economy is based upon an abundance of natural resources. A literate population helps the country as does agricultural, and a diverse industrial base. The country once had a large middle class compared to other Latin American countries, but this part of the population has been deteriorated by a succession of economic crises. Today, while a significant part of the population is still financially well-off, they stand in sharp contrast with the millions who have seen their purchasing drastically reduced. Since 2002, there has been an improvement in the situation of the poorer parts of the country and a strong rebound of the middle class.
