Tolerance of cruelty
In the story called “The scarlet ibis” there are two brothers, one is named Brother, the other is named Doodle, Doodle was born physically disabled and his older brother doesn’t like that.
There are several ways brother is cruel to Doodle. Brother puts Doodle through vigerous workouts and he also showed Doodle no love. This is because Brother is too embarrassed to have a disabled family member & this also shows that he just wants to have a normal little brother. In addition, Brother showed Doodle the coffin that was made for him when he dies. Brother showed it to Doodle because he wanted him to know that he was weak. He also showed him it because he wanted him to know that he was going to die. Brothers sibling was originally named William Armstrong But their family changed his name because they thought that he wouldn’t be alive for long, so they wouldn’t give him a real name.

Brother is cruel to Doodle, and Doodle tolerates his treatment. For example, Doodle never told on his brother, even when he should have. This shows that Doodle cares about his brother and he doesn’t want to get him into any trouble with their parents. This is because Doodle liked to leave the house and make Brother proud. In addition, He does what brother says. For example, He did what brother told him to do so he can get better and walk. This is because all Doodle has ever wanted is to be a normal kid and make his brother proud of him for what he is doing.
