Almost anywhere a person may go, they will be judged whether it is at work, school, or sometimes even between friends. These judgments come from the choices a person would make or a situation they happen to fall into. Many think that the choices one may make tells others about their character, however this is not always the case. People do not portray a great deal of their character through the choices the make, but instead are judged by based on their actions.
Two situations that many people face at least once in their lifetime are cheating and lying. Yet, people do not understand that although a person may lie it does not mean they are always liers or always cheaters. Bill clinton is a perfect example to use because he cheated on his wife and lied to the public about his affair. Because of his actions he was impeached since most americans believed a liar wouldn't make for a good president. However, many others believed Clinton was an amazing president, and whether he was or not one lie shouldn't affect his presidency. Numerous presidents in the past have lied constantly, especially when running for president because they tend to make promises that do not always come true.
The way people choose to live can also be judged, sometimes even more easily than lying or cheating. In The Scarlet Letter by Nathanial Hawthorn, Hester Prinne was condemned by society for commiting adultury. The town thought of her as a sinner and her child sent from the devil, yet they did not realize how good of a person she was. Hester tried to prove herself by volunteering at the homeless shelters and even continued her work of sewing clothing for others. In society today, something that is looked down upon often is gangs. Many people believe gangs are just kids with nothing better to do than to go around aimlessly shooting at each other, however this is not the case. The reason for gangs is protection.
