The catholic is prolife and feel the girl scouts are sending the wrong message because of some of their sponsors. The organization has to defend their stand in the accusations against them. This affects the troops around the world. This will also cause the organization to cancel their programs and events, not to cause a disturbance in their organization.
The solution to the problem is to look at the mission statement the company has, they have to look at what the organization believes in. There goals are to empower girls with knowledge of school and the world. They have to evaluate the criticism they will receive from either parties (pro or con). They have to view what is ethical in their eyes as an organization. The Catholic Church is insisting the Girls Scouts is in partnership with Planned Parenthood and is advocating safe sex which is saying ok to sex before marriage. Again this is more of an ethical issue to the mission of the Girl scouts. The Girl scouts do not believe in discrimination will stand beside their values. I think it is best that teens are aware of these issues and telling them is not the same as condoning these actions.
The solution for allowing lesbian in the Girl Scout, one of the most powerful results of living the Girl Scout Law is the ability to exercise and recognize true leadership. Being honest and fair, courageous and strong, using resources wisely, respecting yourself and others, and making the world a better place…these are values that our staff and our volunteers on a national and a local level continually teach, model, and reinforce.
