Mist Bed Propagation System

A mist bed propagation system is a propagation system in which a thin film of water is produced through a pressurized irrigation system, which cools the atmosphere and leaf surface of cuttings.

How do you make a mist bed system? In order to construct a mist bed propagation system you will need the materials listed below. Once you have gathered all the materials required, follow the instructions below to construct the mist bed.

Materials:
← 1 ¾” PVC pipe in 20’ length (cut this in half)
← 2 ¾” PVC pipe in 4’ length (cut one of these in half)
← 3 ¾” PVC pipe cut at a length of 4”
← 16 ¾” Electrical conduit hangers
← 1 2”x8”x12’ treated lumber (cut in 2 sections of 2”x8”x6’)
← 2 2”x8”x10’ treated lumber
← ½ lb 16 Penny nails
← ½ lb Roofing nails
← 2 2”x4”x12’ treated lumber (cut into 2’ sections)
← 1 100’ Roll Clear Tubing (3/4" Inner Diameter x 1" Outer Diameter)
← 1 Roll 3 ½’ x 24’ galvanized mesh screen ( ¾” 100 mesh)
← 5 ft3 ¼” Pea gravel
← 15 ft3 Sand
← 1 24 Volt solenoid
← 1 24 Hour clock/timer
← 1 6 Minute interval timer
← 1 24 Volt transformer
← 10 Deflection nozzles
← 4 PVC elbows
← 1 Filter
← 1 PVC gate valve
← 1 Heating system
← 1 Tee valve
← 2 Electrical conduit hangers

Level an area East to West that is 8’ wide x 12’ long. Cut the ends of the lumber square. Place a piece of 2”x8”x10’ lumber square with the end of the one of the pieces of 2”x8”x6’ lumber you cut. Nail the ends of the two boards square with each other forming an ‘L’ shape. Repeat this with the other 2 pieces of lumber you have. Nail the two ‘L’ shaped pieces you just made squared in the corners to form a bottomless box. Use the 2’ sections that you cut to create legs for your mist bed. Place 4 of the 2’ lumber sections you cut into the corners of the mist bed and nail them on securely. Measure 2 ½’ from the corners and nail...
