Introduction
I believe sex education is important to have in schools because this will cut down the risk of sexual transmitted diseases and lower the teen pregnancy rate. Teaching sex education in schools is a proven way to prevent teen pregnancy. Approximately one million teenage girls have babies each year (Teen 2004). . In the next 24 hours, there will be over thousand of girls that will become pregnant. In addition, 43% of all adolescent become pregnant before 20 (AACAP Facts 2004). Teenage Pregnancy is defined as an underage girl becoming pregnant before she reaches the legal age of twenty-one.
The definition of sex education according to SIECUS (2002) " Sexuality education is a lifelong process of acquiring information and formimg attitudes, beliefs and values. It encompasses sexual development, reproductive health, interpersonal relationship, affection, intimacy, body image, and gender roles." Sex education classes teaches the importance of reproduction, sexuality, and growning up in general in a more physical and emotional way. One would aruge if sex education is really making a differences in our teens life.

Sex education in schools seems to be more of a controversial issue. Parents are arguing over what the curriculm should be in sex education. They have also raised the issue if it should even be taught in schools or at home by the parents. Sex education in public schools has been a controversial issue in the United States for over a decade. With the HIV and teen pregnancy crises growing, sex education is needed.
