In an age where technology improves and changes, in what seems as a daily occurrence, and with the dominating computer and technology firms in the Nation, it seems as though impossible for a small business in this industry to survive. On the contrary, a small business may rise with a specific “niche”, a specialty or service that sets one apart from the rest. There are many small businesses which have risen from the “garage” to global status by providing, not something completely different, but something special; such as service, sales and/or product.
Sherman Computer repair stands as a small computer repair company that recognizes there is an opportunity for growth. Unlike Synergetic Solution’s 300 employees and five different locations on the East Coast, Sherman has three locations, one manager at each location, and in house repair technicians (12 mobile techs). Sherman has yet to experience the stagnant systems integration and need to redesign their internal structure, as Synergetic Solutions is currently experiencing, allowing a prime opportunity for Sherman to build an effective organizational design and opportunity for organic growth.
A benchmark: The Geek Squad began as a small tech support and repair business, catering to the need of both business and local residential customers. Geek Squad employed 50 technicians; most employed with Best Buy, and built quite a name for themselves in area of customer service and availability.
