Many people talk about how their life would be boring without talking on the phone. Cell phones have been one of the most amazing things ever invented. People seem to talk on the phone everywhere and anytime. One of the many things people do nowadays is talk on the phone. Cell phones have become so popular that people use them while driving. There are many effects of using cell phones while driving, but it effects people mostly mentally/physically and financially.
Firstly, using cell phones while driving can affect people both mentally/ physically. “So as not to appear rude to an unseen listener, a driver will give the conversation constant attention” (Bower 5). Firstly, the driver is mentally distracted from that call so, then he/she starts to go from right to left and as a result of that, accidents come in the way. “ in Massachusetts a man was charged this week with text messaging on his cell phone while driving his SUV in a hit-and-run accident in which, a 13-year old boy was fatally injured” (Cell10). Initially, the boy who got hit by the car might be physically hurt. Possibly it can affect him physically and mentally because he can be disabled which is physical and he can have a brain damage which is for the mental part.
Amazingly, using cell phone while driving affects people financially; “ California law stipulates that a $20 fine for the first offense thereafter” (Sun 10). Due to economic problems these days, if a person thinks using a cell phone while driving is worth paying a couple of dollars, then its not worth it. “Recent cases abound, including one in which a jury is awarded $21 million to a person injured in an accident with an employee of a major firm” (Smith 3). The victim in this case probably sued the person who was driving the car. The money he/she was asked to pay by the judge/ jury could have been used to do something more important, but because he/she was using the phone and hit someone with the car he/she has to...
