Should the colonists have gone to war with Britain?
Wounded, having just been shot in the stomach, the soldier lay on the ground, as he was slowly drained of his blood. This is what it was like during the Revolutionary War. American soldiers lay on the ground, slowly dying. They had only volunteer women to heal them, no trained nurses. Most people would think that, what with me having been born in America, I would argue that America made the right decision in going into the Revolutionary War. They would be one hundred percent wrong. In my opinion, the colonists were completely wrong in their decision to go to war with Britain. Though many people would argue that Britain would have eventually pushed us over the edge, there are things we could have done to prevent that without war. Overall, there are many reasons why my point of view should be supported on this issue.
A major reason that my position on this issue should be supported is that if we had made peace with Britain and were still ruled by them, conditions would likely be better. We would not have had to make major decisions, so it is likely the Louisiana Purchase would never have happened. Because of this, America would probably have been less populated, therefore lowering our unemployment rate. Also, we would not have lost nearly as many men in war, because Britain would have done the majority of the fighting. These are just several ways that conditions would have been better if we had still been ruled by Britain. The colonists would have been smarter to consider these things before springing into action.
Another reason that I am right in saying the Revolutionary War was a bad choice is because if we were still ruled by Britain, we would not have to worry as much about being attacked. If we were still part of Britain, and we got other countries mad, they would be more likely to attack the mainland rather than the colonies. America would not be responsible for our...
