Similarities Beyond Racial Differences

The majority of the members of my community look like me. The ways that members of my community look the same as me are that most members of my community are white, wear normal clothes and shoes, and speak English. The ways that members of my community look different than me are that a few of the members in my community are Hispanic Americans or Arab and Muslim Americans, their skin color is darker than mine, and they do not speak the same language as me.
Leaders within my community treat people who are like me with respect, dignity, and compassion. Leaders of my community treat people who are different than me with the same respect, dignity, and compassion as long as the members are legal immigrants or citizens of the United States, willing to work hard and earn a honest living to support their family, be a positive part of society, and not expect the government to hand them everything they need or want just because they maybe of a different race or ethnicity. Other members of my community treat people who are like me with the same respect, dignity, and compassion as do the leaders of my community. Other members of my community treat people who are different than me the same way the leaders of my community do. If immigrants want to come over to the United States in hope of a better life I feel most United States citizens do not have a problem with the immigrants coming over here. The problems begins when the immigrants want to come over to our country and expect to be given everything they need and want when they need and want it without having to work for it or abide by the laws of our country.
In this course I feel the texts contained information by and about people like me because every human being has an ethnic background including one or more cultural races.
