Returning to School
I’m a single mother of two beautiful little girls so coming back to school was an easy decision. In today’s time with the economy getting worse by the day doesn’t leave people with much of a choice but to further their education. The job market isn’t very stable for people working your everyday laborers with no type of training or degree. Going back to school right now seems like the best thing to do to prepare myself for a job once they become available.
Another contributing factor to my return to school is my precious grandmother Rose Brown. Unfortunately she passed away earlier this year, but before she passed she was also a student adding one bullet to her resume. My grandmother was a Registered Nurse for over 40 years as well as a minister and broker. She believed that you could never learn too much or have more than one career. My grandmother’s education allowed her to have all these titles so her accomplishments and passion for her crafts inspired me to come back to school.
My children are also motivators in my decision so I can make means to provide for them. I want to be able to have a stable home for them where they can blossom into the young women they aspire to be. My oldest daughter loves that we both have homework she ask me sometime if I need help or did you study for your test, she makes sure she stays on top of me. I would also love it if me going back to school will inspire my girls to go to college since I did.
My goals that I would like to achieve in getting a BA in Healthcare Studies is be able to make some healthy and positive changes to the field. I also knew I wanted to be in the healthcare field I just wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. Since I don’t have the stomach to be a nurse healthcare studies seemed to be the good choice for me. I am very excited and optimistic about my journey here at Ashford to prepare me for adventure to becoming successful in my career.
