NHU NGUYEN BLOCK D Mrs.CG DUE DATE : 12/4/08 SLAVE NARRATIVE In “ uncle Tom’s cabin” , the women name Cassy is a mulatto ,who considered as a slave , was very challenge with her love beause of the “ slave label “ ,which is a big barrier between her and uncle Tom.She had to give up all her desire to find a love because she was a slave ,who considered as a lowest class in society . “ I’ve heard all this crying and praying before ; and yet , they ‘ve been broken down , and brought under . There’s Emmeline, she’s trying to hold on , ad you’re trying-but what use ? You must give up , or be killed by inches “ (Stowe 1783).The difference is too big to cover all her hope and faith in Lord , she was very miserable during her life until she find the love but cannot reach it because of the slavery condition , she used to pray with Lord but every thing the same way it was so that why she lost her faith in Lord. Same thing with Tom , he want to be love with her but he was obstructed by the condition and society class made him afraid to face with the challenge Both Jacob and Stowe were directed toward a better life than they had to face or experience. Both slave narrative are united because together they show the audience their desire to escape from the slavery and heading toward a justice society and true love which is too hard to make it possible , they had to give up their love, children and family to prevent the slavery life and that was a good way they can do for their love . They didn’t want to see or to think the people they love had to suffer in slavery ,they dedicated every valuable thing they have just like Cassyin “ Uncle Tom’s cabin “ , she poisoned her new baby to prevent herself pain to see her children taken away from her again and that is a only thing she can do to protect her children
