Social Responsibility
Paja’s Facilities and Property Management is non-profit organization that is headed by a director who is appointed by the Commissioners. Paja’s FPM manages approximately 8.5 million square feet of space. It has over 200 employees that work with vendors, contractors, other departments and the public Paja FPM provides services 24/7 365 days per year.
Environmental
Consideration:
The company currently have several large environmental programs in place they have an Energy Management program and the green office program. These programs are in place but are not well advertised to the staff. The company has no recycling programs within its offices they talk about the need to recycle but there is no recycling in the office. The office building have a kitchen area on one of the floors with at least six or 8 vending machines but there is no place to recycle the cans or plastic bottles that are in those machines they end up in the trash. Recycling is not at the forefront of any discussion in the office arena.
Recommendation:
Start a recycling initiative campaign to recycle paper, plastic, glass and encourage staff members to bring lunch in reusable containers. This will be done throughout the company not just at the home office. Let the public and other departments know of your recycling programs inform them of why you recycle and encourage them to do the same. The department uses many batteries start a campaign to recycle batteries and ink cartridges. The department may be able to receive a discount on ink cartridges for returning used cartridges. Encourage participation by having to determine which facility can recycle the most. Purchase bins and label the bins for each article that is being recycled.
