Society and Drugs

RUNNING HEAD: DRUGS A Drugged Society Ralphie Mejia Composition I ITT Technical Institute Steve Ryan February 05, 2009 Drugs seem to be on a growing problem across the world but mainly in our society. People insinuate in today’s society love to live their life’s to the fullest and are always putting their lives at risk just to fit in and seem cool in front of their friends. The reason that this is a problem is because drugs are so accessible to anyone that has the special friend or the right amount of money nowadays. Now that drugs seem nothing more than item on a grocery list, drugs are really easy to obtain let alone abuse. Most people do not know the repercussions of taking drugs until some accident occurs either to them or some person they know. The government says they are trying it’s best to contain the exposure of drugs in society but why do we still hear drug stories on the news. The concept is really simple; there is no war on drugs, because our society is infected by drugs. Illegal drugs are less dangerous than most thing out in the world including prescription drugs that are prescribed to patients by doctors ( Truthout.org2008). Some but not all illegal drugs do not have a lethal dosage meaning you cannot over does on them while prescribed drugs are abused everyday because patients do know what they are doing. It’s not just patients but teens also have access to prescription drugs, all they need to do look in their medicine cabinet. Other people go to extreme lengths as faking or actually injuring themselves just to get those drugs they urge.
