Sorrento (2012) reviews existing work in the field of interior design, examining the natural balance and the sustainability between interior design and humans health. And investigating the progression from early research show that the problem of energy shortages has increased as long as the increasing of global demand for energy. The author makes a direct link on the evaluation of sustainability, which focus on the question of how and where the interior designer’s work fits in. She argues that interior design is valuable and unique to offer the new vision of sustainability and she also suggests that daylight management is an aggressive strategy to reduce artificial electric lighting by using natural light. “ A new ecological design approach will require a qualitatively different type of acceptance by clients and stakeholder of a building’s current and potential merits” (Cole 2012, p. 5). This shows that client education has become an important part of interior design’s job. It is widely known that using natural daylighting can reduce the usage of artificial electric lighting and also save the energy. This claim also supported by the author, in addition, there are some strategies relate to lighting not merely use sun light through windows but also relate to the color of furniture as well as the floors and walls. That is because light color can allowed deeper penetration of the sunlight and also improve natural light levels by over 200% up to 30 ft. from windows. (Sorrento, 2012). Sorrento suggests that interior design is regarded as a profession and it has something to do with sustainability of energy and quality of life.
