My book report is about the book, The Pacific South States of Mexico. It is written by Sheryl Nantus. INTRODUCTION Mexico is a country in the midst of great change. And what happens in Mexico will have an important impact on the United States, its neighbor in the north. These changes are being put in place by President Vicente Fox, who was elected in 2000, he wants to have a friendlier relationship with the United States, and for American businesses to increase trade with Mexico. A lot of people see Mexico as an poor country. But Mexico had given the world some of its greatest artists, writers and painters. In this book report I will give a summary about the Mexico. And about the fallowing subjects in the book: The land The history The economic The culture THE LAND Mexico’s Pacific South is a land rich in history and natural resources. These states- Colima, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas- are a diverse mixture of mountains and tropical vegetation. Colima is one of the smallest states in Mexico. The capital of Colima is Colima, and directly south of Colima is the Pacific Ocean. Chiapas is right at the southernmost edge of Mexico. The climate varies from area to area. Guerrero is located on the Pacific Coast. And has one of Mexico’s most famous cities in its midst '' Acapulco. Oaxaca is found in the southwest area of Mexico, with the Pacific Ocean to the south. With almost 316 miles of coastline, Oaxaca is poised to become a major tourist-based state. THE HISTORY The Tecos Indians solidified their hold on the Pacific south states of Mexico first. But when the Spanish people swept across the country, the area soon became a port of their new empire. When the invaders set up their local government, they left most native people alone and concentrated on collecting taxes and creating plantations to grow coffee and sugar.
