Squall at Twilight

A quiet night on the calm ocean, the vessel sits peacefully. She floats gracefully among the deep blue waves. As the gleaming sun sinks slowly behind the water, the light reflects off her luminous white exterior. The great mast extends high above the ship, as if to be the vessel’s watchman. The breeze is slow and tranquil. Little does she know an ominous storm lurks in the distance.
As the winds begin to quicken, black clouds roll in creating dark shadows on the salty water. The ship’s bow cuts through the gradually swelling whitecaps. The boat sways quickly from side to side as the weather worsens.
The clouds now cover the entire ship, hiding the bright moon and stars. The size of the waves increases quickly now as the ship is tossed back and forth. Drops of rain become heavier and soak the entire vessel. Wind rushes through the black railings on the bow. Seemingly black water swirls around the boat, splashing onto the stern. A break in the clouds allows the moonlight to show through, casting eerie shadows on the turbulent ocean. Another clap of thunder shakes the ship. Intense lightning follows, striking a huge swell. More and more water is splashing into the ship as rocks unsteadily in the rough water.
