This essay will describe the company and product that is being analyzed in week three’s Strategic Supply Chain course. This essay will also cover the following, define statistical process control, and explain how it may be used to improve a product. Identify and explain two quality tools that we could use to quantify the quality improvement of a product at my company and explain why process capability is important and one way we could measure its capability of our product.
Company & Product
Air products were founded in the 1940’s by Leonard P Pool to meet the needs of mid-level oxygen consumers. After making adjustments to his mission he worked with the government during WW2 by building oxygen filtrations for pilots. After the war he started providing onsite services of producing and selling industrial gases. After numerous successful contracts, Air Products inters the international market for industrial gases threw Air Products Great Britain Ltd a joint venture with Butterly Company. Fast forwarding, Air Products buys many companies that enhance its onsite customer care, companies like Ashland Chemical. Ashland makes high purity chemicals for the semiconductor sector. Now Air Products supplies gases and chemicals all over the globe to all manufacturing firms.
