Today Convocation was about the whole Florida Memorial staff, faculty, and alumni welcoming freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior students back for the New Year. Today is the official start of my college career and I plan to do well throughout this course of time. This ceremony I felt was mainly for the freshmen student, to let us know that this is a new beginning in our lives. This is the transition from high school to college. What this ceremony showed me today was that there are people here that care about what happens to me and what I am about to do with my life.
Throughout the whole Convocation there were many other things that caught my attention, such as the guest speakers, Alumni, and staff. The guest speakers were trying to tell the audience that Florida Memorial has change a lot since they graduated from here. The name for example, a lot of the Alumni went to school here when the school was called Florida Memorial College. They also spoke about the rules and regulations that they had to follow when they went to school here, and I have to say I would not have been able to follow some of the rules. They had a cure and it was 8p.m., they could not leave campus unless they had permission, and they had to attend church every Sunday. I feel that some of the rules that they had to follow were unacceptable. Why do I need some one to tell me I have to be in side my dorm room at a certain time and I am in college? Everybody in college are grown and if not all then mostly every one.
Beside the whole flash back presentation that they gave us the ceremony was good and I enjoyed my self. I will be looking forward to a good semester here at Florida Memorial and can not wait to begin.
