1. Describe the company's formal and informal communication system.
2. Describe how most decisions are made in your organization/company.
The company that I am currently has various different types of communication methods and system in place for the employees to communicate with each other. There are various formal and informal communication system within the company. The formal communication within our company is verbal and written communication through telephone and emails, memos, handouts, letters and also verbal announcement through managers to its employees. Most of the time its written communication rather than verbal. The accountability and responsibility are part of the formal communication. Formal communication is powerful tool within our company rather than informal communication. The informal communication is more casual and usually spread through word of mouth within the department and organization. It spreads the word faster than formal communication; however it’s not very effective and can be understood wrong. Most of the employees within our company use the informal communication by spreading the word to each other if they hear any particular formal communication. In this process, the message can be interpreted wrong and it can cost company if the employees do not get the right message, for example during the holidays the employees needs to be communicated clearly the days the company would be working and not working. If they’re not told the right dates and days, it can lead to employees not show up for work during the days when the company is open.
Most of the decisions are made by the board and executive management within our company. The company has a small board and few executive bodies to enforce their decision. The company doesn’t involve too many employees feedback in major decisions but its starting to realize the...
