Why students fail or drop out of college

In my opinion, there are four years for a college student to graduate just after completing four years of high school. Most students wouldn't go through with going to college and some do. There are several reasons as to why a student may fail or just drop out. Homesickness and feeling that you just don't fit in is just one of many. Educational burnout and academic unpreparedness, sometimes high school don't really prepare students for college and college gives students control and some flexibility over their schedule, the challenging courses and large amounts of homework can turn a students desire away from wanting to continue. Being a college student also has it's financial constraints, tuition cost and the fact that some grants are not available, students have to worry about food and clothing, so they get part time jobs that are available to them but it puts a strain and added stress to their class attendance and study habits. A students financial stituations can change year to year. Also there are campus parties students like to attend with drinking and unfortunately the use of drugs, you have those students, namely freshman, that take advantage of their friendships and party with those students who are of age when they are not, which can put them on academic probation due to suffering grades or absence in classes if not worse, being suspended from school and the campus for the remainder of the year. As there are many other reasons for stundents to drop out or fail college, these in my opinion are my reasons, having a son of my own who attends college and is a freshman this year, I stay on top of him in concerns to his academic progress and maintain that he stays focused, I tell him college is a great experience, and a real learning process, it's ok to have fun with friends, it's ok to go to the campus parties they have, that's what it's all about, but it is also ok to succeed and excel...
