4.2 Weaknesses of SUGAR
Owing to the failure of the some designated tasks, loads of the weaknesses of the system are revealed. The weaknesses of SUGAR are follows:
4.21 User trapped in a particular application
The simple interface of SUGAR by showing automatically full screen which makes users fails to find the toolbar of the system. As a result users find difficult to use all the application of SUGAR freely. When the users want normal size, they need to move the cursor from angle to the middle of the screen, it is totally user-unfriendly.
4.22 Meaningless of Labeling
Participants did not understand some of the icon labeling and felt confused by them. For example, it is pretty hard for people to predict the functions of “WORDS” because the labeling is not the description of that specific function.
4.23 No notification to the user
The system does not have a clear indication of what it is going to do. It never returns the system’s status to the user. For example, the users don’t know whether they have downloaded the file or not.
4.24 Difficulty to exit the application
The exit button is only visible if the heading “activity” is selected. The method is to move cursor to upper border and press one of the four main buttons (neighborhood, group, home and activity) to exit current application, if the user does not select the heading “activity”. However, such switching method does not stop the current program. The application is left running at that moment. Then it will result in the low efficiency of using system.
4.25 Difficulty in saving document
Layout problem is the main reason that it is very difficult to save a file in SUGAR. The file name should be entered in the search prompt, which made participants feel hard to set the file name and then save it. However, the users do not realize that the search prompt is the place the enter file name.
