Let’s Stop Scaring Ourselves

The essay is written by Michael Crichton, an author of the best-selling novels “The Andromeda Strain and Jurassic Park.” The essay talks about the fears that people have dealing with the issues around the world. Michael Crichton wants his readers to understand that not all of the reports telling us the end is near are true. He states that the news reporters fill people with false fears and lacks conclusive evidence. He writes about the many false fears rumored around the world and how none of them have occurred. He points out many people believe the false fears and go into a frantic state to prepare for the crisis. He wants his readers to understand that if they would not believe all the headlines, they would live a better life without fear and nagging concerns in the back of their minds.
After reading the essay and understanding what he was claiming, I have to agree with his statements. There have been so many reports about the end of the world coming and none of the allegations have come true. I, in my own personal experience, have realized that believing the reports causes more stress in my life. If I hold it with a grain of salt, I am much happier and a better person. I believe that most of the statements are made to scare citizens into buying more of whatever is needed to prepare for the “crisis” coming. As many statements that have been made, very few have actually came to be true or occur. I am with the author when he says to not freight so much about the news reports and to just live your life from day to day.
