Depression affects millions of Americans every year. According to the Duenwald (2003) “more than 16 percent of Americans – as many as 35 million people – suffer from depression,” (¶2). Latino Americans and children are also a part of this percentage. Are there predictors that could explain why depression occurs? If there are predictors, what are those they? In their article, “The Impact of cultural and familial context on behavioral and emotional problems of preschool Latino children,” Weiss, Goebel, Page, Wilson, and Warda (1999) discuss potential factors that may influence depression among Latino preschoolers. This paper will summarize their article and discuss trends brought on by this article that impact psychology.

Method
