I have this amazing little girl who is the light of my life, her name is Lily. Over the summer, she has overcome a few of what we call “growing up” obstacles and I had the pleasure of watching and recording it all to my memory; such as, our first vacation, the beauty pageant, her learning to walk, and her first birthday .Lily’s summer was a great experience for me because I got to happily watch my sweet Lily grow up to become such an active toddler.
In late April my husband, Lily and I took a trip to Mexico and that was the very first time Lily and I had ever been out of the country. Lily was about eight and a half months old and had never been around so many small children and she wanted to do the exact same things they were doing. Everyday the children would run around on the driveway at my in laws house and Lily just wanted to do the same, but she couldn’t walk yet and the concrete was so hot and jagged with small holes that she would’ve really gotten hurt. Later that day we went to the small town about 5 miles away and looked for a walker that way she could move around with the kids. We finally found one that could be used more outside than inside and it was blue with small toys attached to the tray and a little detachable shade piece that covered her while she was using it outside to avoid getting sun burned. When we got back to the house, she rode in the walker all day until it was dark. When our vacation was over, we left the walker there for other small children to use.
Lily didn’t want to crawl anymore when we returned home and was so determined to try to walk. We soon moved to Poteau, Ok and by this time lily was saying “DADDY”. Every morning at 5:30 a.m., Lily would rise up out of her crib and say “DADDY, DADDY” and lay back down. While he would be getting ready, Lily would crawl behind him everywhere and just sit on the floor and watch him fix lunch or brush his teeth.
