Announcement: Project for Continuous Assessment (20% of the total course marks)

Group project (group size: 3 ~ 5 students)

Carry out single-factor experiment to investigate the effect of single factor on the response in any area of application: a business or industrial process, an academic interest, a sporting activity or everyday life. More than three levels of factor are to be chosen by the investigators (a ≥ 4). For the quality of the analysis, the replicate must be at least seven (n ≥ 7).

Each group is required to submit a report describing the followings:
(1) A brief description of the problem, A brief introduction to your study problem.
(2) The selection of the level of a factor and replicates
(3) Summary of collected data, comments on the data collection
(4) One-way ANOVA
(5) Conclusion & discussion (e.g., limitation of your report, suggestions, brief comment on the further study)
(6) References
(7) Appendix: Supporting material – collected data

Due date: 3 April 2009 (Friday) – Only hard copy submission is accepted. (*E-mail submission will NOT be accepted.)

Grading criteria of group project
1) Logic and accuracy --- 90 %
2) Structure of the report and quality of writing --- 10%
