In this essay I am going to talk about the 5 stages of the teaching cycle and the roles and responsibilities that will relate to me and my job teaching students. My job will be to help staff/students at my work (Early Years Centre) to achieve NVQ’s levels 2, 3 in childcare and education. We can have up to three students in the centre at one time.
My responsibilities when identifying the needs of my students would spending time with the students and finding out there needs that they have and explaining to them what is expected and what they need to do to achieve this within the centre and class room. This might be done in interview at first and then a induction to the EYC and then a induction for the room they may work in and talks about what is expected of them achieve the course. This would be the initial assessment. This is important because I need to know what support they are going to need and it will help with me planning for their course, I may need to think about individual learning planning for the students and think about the barriers for the students and how I might overcome these. One of these might be a language barrier as I work at the university EYC there are a lot of overseas students. I feel that I will have to keep identifying the needs throughout the course to check that they are achieving and we are meeting all the needs of the student’s these could change throughout the course.
When Planning and designing, I will need to plan for my sessions with my students. I will have to write objectives of what the student will achieve in the lesson and how I am going to do this. I will need to think about and preparing handouts for the students. These might include information of area that learning about, quizzes to test their knowledge, flash cards. I will have to make sure I have enough resources for all my students and they meet the needs of all my students.
