Ever changing technologies have indeed created its demand in the world today. Many people are so dependent on technology that they have unknowingly become the slaves of technology .It has also helped to create convenience to the people as one is able to reach out to anyone in the world anytime at a reasonable cost. To date, many people are using their mobile phone as their digital assistant, one example is the Smartphone.
A smart phone is a highly developed cell phone which has more applications than the normal mobile phone. It is a personal device that connects to cellular data so as to provide online services. Smart phones have different capabilities in comparison to a normal cell phone. It can check emails, make phone calls, and browse the web. Smartphone users have an access to the internet, this means that extremely many things can be done by a small device that is portable and one can carry it around anywhere.
It’s only in the last couple of years that Apple brought the smartphones to a mass consumer market but they have been in existence since around 1993. The difference is they were primarily used as enterprise devices and very expensive for consumers. No one thought that smartphones will become the daily gadgets and one can’t live without one.
The smartphone world is expanding as there are more than 1.2 billion smartphone users across the world out of which 91.4 Million is in United States. To give a quick statistics
- 80% of the world`s population has a cell phone
- 5 billion mobile phones in world out of which only 1.08 billion use smartphones.
- Apple has 28.7% Andriod 46.9% and RIM 16.6%, Microsoft 5.2% and Symbian 1.5% of the market share in smartphone platform
- Singapore has the highest smartphone penetration rate in world, which is at 54%
