Technology in Modern Life
Technology is very much a part of modern day life. Some feel that the contribution of technology has made a positive impact in modern life and that technology helps improve the quality of life. Others feel that technology has been causing problems with the evolution of how people talk and interact with each other. When we think of technology, we think of computers, cellular phones, video games, and other objects such as these. What people do not automatically think about are the possession we use in every day living, such as, clocks, ladders, and vacuums. There are also numerous amount of other items used on daily basis to help with modern day living, such as refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, and even our modern day transportation, just to name a few. Have these possessions hindered our progression in ways that we are unable to see? Or does the technology advancements we have today enable us to carry on a better life?
Think about the days when there were no computers or modern technology. The lives of people were highly restricted to what could be done. People were forced to do the work themselves, without the help of machinery or computer programs. They had to use the full extent of our knowledge, to do even the simplest task, such as having to recall phone numbers and date of births. They were also restricted to interaction of with the people that surrounded us instead of anyone we choose. Also children were made to play outside and use their imagination rather than staying in the room or house to listen to music or play video games. Back in earlier days, there was also a more personal relationship between people. Having to talk with one another face to face was done instead of through messaging systems. There was also hand written letters to loved ones who lived far away in place of emails.
When I think about our technology advances today, the first thing that comes to mind, are the phones that we carry around on a daily...
