Imagine there is logical stress on a particular word in each of the sentences below. You should give an explanation of why that word is being stressed, ie what exactly the speaker is trying to say by stressing that words. For some sentences you will be asked to comment on two words that can be stressed.

Hint: Read out each sentence several times with your chosen word stressed so that you can work out the reason for that stress.

Example: I haven’t seen him since Monday.

In this sentence, ''Monday' is stressed as the speaker wants to emphasise when the contact took place - perhaps to correct somebody who thought they saw each other on Tuesday.
