INTRODUCTION (5 MIN)

1. GAIN ATTENTION: Professionals! A professional is one who is competent and knowledgeable in all aspects of his livelihood. In garrison or in the field, in peace or in war, Marines exemplify the word "professional". Before you can earn the title Marine, you must master the basic customs and courtesies that are vital to your development as a professional in your new vocation.

2. OVERVIEW: The purpose of this period of instruction is to introduce each recruit to the customs and courtesies of the Marine Corps.

3. LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

a. TERMINAL LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

(1) Without the aid of references, perform required military courtesies and honors, per MCO P1020.34F, MCO P10520.3B, NAVMC 2691, and NAVREG. (PVTX.02.05)

(2) Without the aid of the reference, describe the three sizes of National Ensigns, per MCO P10520.3B. (PVTX.02.06)

(3) Without the aid of references, explain the customs of the Marine Corps, per Marine Corps Manual, NAVREG, and Naval Historical Center. (PVTX.02.07)

b. ENABLING LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

(1) Without the aid of the reference, given a list of choices, identify the procedures for boarding a ship, per NAVREG. (PVTX.02.05ae)
