Every year we have to do a certain amount of service hours in order to graduate. Some people see it as a burden but I see it as an “opportunity”. I love the service hours because you can meet some very inspiring people and have fun with it. First I had the Marmion baseball camp which was a blast. Then I helped out a friend’s mom out with her elementary school party.
Being able to be a part of the baseball camp was a great “opportunity” to maybe see some future Marmion kids. The camp is two days and six hours each day so you get to get to know the kids that attend the camp. In this camp we did basic drills to teach them the fundamentals Brandon and I had a blast talking to kids. Because first thing we did was see who could dance and see if they dance and who was the best. Which was hilarious seeing the kids trying to out dance each other. Then after that we would get to the drill and tell some jokes so the kids aren’t as quite. The first day was really instructional kind of boring unless you had the “opportunity” to be with me and Brandon. Day two was a blast because for six hours we would just play whiffle balls games which was filled with laughter and shouting. The Corporal Works of Mercy I choose for this was welcome the strangers because we got to meet a bunch of kids who were trying to learn about baseball. Also it was really cool to meet some kids who loved baseball just as much as I do.
My other volunteering “opportunity” was helping out my friend’s mom out with her elementary school party. This was another exciting day because having a bunch of little kids asking you to dance was quite a fun night. But before we had to serve people food and drinks they would give us tickets and take whatever food and drink they wanted it was pretty easy. But when that was done we were supposed to clean up but all the little kids kept asking us to dance with them so we took the “opportunity” to go dance.
