In every man’s life comes a time when one needs some adventure, when one needs to step out of their everyday robotic routine. Christopher McCandless was a young man who followed his heart; he went on the adventure of a life time. Thought people may have thought he was ignorant and naive, what he did was quite admirable. McCandless actually did what his heart and soul were yearning for; he put aside the “important” things in life and took a chance. McCandless’s grand adventure ended with his death, but I believe that it was completely worth his while and that he needed this in order to be fully satisfied with his life. Most people live their entire lives without knowing what they are really living for; if every one were to take the time to understand themselves, then everyone would be far more happy then they are, especially Americans. I need to get far away for this materialistic society and find out for myself who I really am and what I am supposed to do in this life.
Life is much shorter the most people expect it to be. Life is a gift that is meant to be enjoyed. Imagine if you received a present, and it was wrapped in this beautiful paper and you just knew that it would be something good, but you never open it, so it stays in your room day after day and year after year. This present is life itself. Most people do not really know what life is; most people just wake up in the morning, go to work, come home, watch television, and sleep, only to wake up the next morning to do it all over again. Why do we do this when surely we all know there is something more to life? To me, life is not to be wasted, one wouldn’t throw diamonds into the sea, but one can very easily throw their life away without even knowing it. Is one’s life not worth more than precious stones that can easily parish? I know now what I have to do; that is why I have designed a master plan to save my life. I have a grand adventure all mapped out in my head, it is an adventure that will mold me into...
