A Day at the Beach

Everyone has a place where they go to escape from the pressures and worries of life. There is always that one spot that can soothe all your problems and troubles in times of stress. For me, the beach is the ultimate cure to all of my problems. While I am there, all of my obligations are suddenly erased. Although we live in Nebraska where there is no ocean access, I have vacationed in many spots around the world and have had the opportunity to enjoy the many wonderful things about the beach.
On a typical day at the beach I can feel the soft, smooth sand beneath my feet. I am taken in by the soothing atmosphere that surrounds me. I let myself absorb the intense rays of the sun on a scorching summer day. I feel the heat of the sun crawl over my body. I know that my body is getting darker in color. The temperature feels around eighty-five degrees, a beautiful summer day. As I enter the water, I feel the cold upon my toes. As I go deeper, my body adjusts to the temperature of the water and I am relaxed. I feel small tickles as soft seaweed and other things pass my legs under the water. Inside, I feel happy to be in such an amazing place.
I am calmed by the sounds of the ocean. As I listen, I can hear the crash of every wave as it tumbles over the water. I hear all different types of birds chirping above me. I listen to the young voices of the children playing and running. Different genres of music are playing all around me. A bicyclist passes by and I hear the “Ding” of the bell. The wind whistles through the air. As a young girl walks by, I hear her singing a common tune. The sounds all mend together to create a relaxing feeling in my mind.
As I sit in my chair I can see all the sights of summer. Children are building sand castles along the ocean's edge. As I look out on the never-ending ocean, I see fish and other creatures popping out of the water. Boats filled with joyful families zoom by. I look down to find seashells scattered...
