The Beginning Phase

The Beginning Phase

I graduated Ida High School in Ida, Michigan in June 2003. I played on the school’s football and baseball program. This helped define many of the skills I use today. It molded me into a highly competitive person, as well as showing the hard work I needed to accomplish to be successful in everything that I do. It also was the beginning phase of the steps I would learn and need to become a successful leader. I am a prior college graduate at Michigan Institute of Aviation and Technology as of February 2006. I enlisted in the United States Army in March 2006 as a 14E.I deployed with my unit from January 2007 to February 2008. During this time I overcame many struggles and fought through much adversity while being separated from my family and home. I learned how to adapt to a new environment and excel as a leader with many soldiers underneath me. I currently am stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas in a Patriot line battery. I am a SGT who is fast tracking in the military, and looking to further my education and my career by becoming an officer.
I am interested in studying Natural Resources Management and becoming a DNR officer in my home state of Michigan after I am out of the service. I would also be attending the ROTC course provided by Colorado State University. Colorado State is a great match for me for many and great reasons. I am interested in your program because it is highly reputable and the natural resources afforded by the Fort Collins location are unparalleled. With my passion for natural resources and experiences, I would be set for success after school through the education provided by Colorado State, along with having the knowledge needed to become an officer in the United States Army.
