We had just seen an R18+ plus movie. I know what you’re thinking; how did we get in?
Well, fake ID’s these days are easy to get, if you’re in with the right crowd. And that I was.
The last year has been hard for me, I lost my mum and my dad left the day of her funeral.
So I only have my Aunty and brother, James. They never understood me, my mum was
the only one that did. I never knew how to react to a death or loss and I guess that a new
group of friends at school was my key to handle all my emotions. !

Lex was my best friend in the group. He knew what I was going through and just got my
sense of humour. But I guess all good things have a cost. !

After the movie we were thinking of what to do next. Bored and fearless, my friends had
the brilliant idea of shop lifting. They thought the easiest shop to steal from was Target.
The big red circle. The small murmur of women and children filled the spacious area of the
store. I had just been accepted into this group and I didn’t want to lose my place in it.
Although I was quite afraid of the thought of stealing. I had never done it before. The ID
situation in my head was alright. I wasn’t stealing or hurting anyone. But of course, Nate
and Cruz were eager and not the biggest fans of mine; and being the childish teenagers
they were, the name calling and pestering started again, like they did for the ID’s, until I
gave in. “I knew you didn’t have it in you.” “Lex why do you even like him?” “He doesn’t
have the guts!”!

If this was what had to be done for them to accept me, then I will do it. “First time is the
hardest. You’ll get used to it.” they said before we entered. We all decided on an object we
wanted and headed our separate isles. The tiled floor was cool and almost frosted from
the air conditioner that quietly hummed as we entered, bare feet, shorts, singlets and
hoodies. Lex, Cruz, Nate and I had decided to skip school. We had had enough...
