Cancer Stem Cells 3

Cancer Stem Cells
What is Cancer Stem Cells? They are numbers of cells with a tumors capable of make a tumor growth, capable of renewing themselves through the process of cell division. They divide, they differentiate, they duplicate and they divide indefinitely. Now day’s researchers focused on adult cells that present in malignant tumors. Most deaths are increasing and is all because some of them are really hard to treat such as pancreatic cancer, it has dismal survival rates while other ones are just treated with chemotherapies and it only help to divide them. First stem cell was founded in a breast cancer stem cell in a solid tumor. Since then they have been founded in the brain, colon, head, neck, pancreas and central nervous system tumors. They can these cells by taking sample of tumors, remove them from patients and then, they do daily researches. Next is understand them and identify what can kill them. ‘’ CSCs may generate tumors through the stem cell processes of self-renewal and differentiation into multiple cell types. Such cells are proposed to persist in tumors as a distinct population and cause relapse and metastasis by giving rise to new tumors. Therefore, development of specific therapies targeted at CSCs holds hope for improvement of survival and quality of life of cancer patients, especially for sufferers of metastatic disease. Existing cancer treatments have mostly been developed based on animal models, where therapies able to promote tumor shrinkage were deemed effective.

However, animals could not provide a complete model of human disease. In particular, in mice, whose life spans do not exceed two years, tumor relapse is exceptionally difficult to study. (www.wikipedia.org)

Is there any treatment for it? Chemotherapy doesn’t kill cancer stem cells. Scientist believe that cancer stem cells have mutations that make them resistant damage from chemotherapy or radiation. Stem Cells treatment is...
