According to the article “Enjoying the Low Life?” by Nicholas Kristof. The United State is promising a false high quality of life for his citizens. The social and economic development is not effective; therefore, the future progress is not accurate. In the beginning of the article the writer points out how the society focuses on superficial aspect such as iPhones and pop stars like Beyoncé. It claims that the United State should focus on social progress in order to increase the economic development.
The social aspect is not working property in 2015 the traffic fatality and suicide rate were 37 to 80 higher than other countries. Also, the education quantity and quality is declining to 38 to 49 in rank. Professor Porter expert on competiveness explained his point of view and suggest that the cause was the separation of social progress and economic development. He notices how Costa Rica, Uruguay, New Zealand and Rwanda excel having social indicator better than income levels. Michael Green which produces the index indicates that it takes time to outperformer on social progress. For example, Costa Rica has improved social and economic because since the 19th and 20th century education has been the priority. Professor Porter explained how the social index can be improved in the United State and he suggests economic equality but after he realized bad outcomes among rich and poor. He approached the idea to raise taxes on tycoons to empower education because he thinks education is the root of social progress and economic development.

The final claim is education should be prioritized in order to assure a high quality of life for the U.S citizens. The evidence didn’t provide ways to improve or fix the problem for education.
