The Dali Lama explains to all of us that love is compassion and that you can only have love when you reach self-fulfillment. He explains that you can reach self-fulfillment in two ways. The Dali lama wrote this in order for people who read this essay to see a point of view of ethic compassion towards all. He wants you to look at your poor neighbors the same you would your rich, and your ugly friend the same as your gorgeous. He stresses how to get thru life and surpass the troubles of suffering. He teaches us on how to be unconditionally compassionate towards others no matter the circumstances.
Ways to reach self-fulfillment are thru religion and through unrelenting compassion. To be honest I didn’t understand what that meant before this essay. It means to be compassionate no matter the person or the situation to realize that every person is attempting to be happy. “The ways in which compassion can be moving are if you can reach a spiritual awakening in which you completely open yourself up you can move others”. To be unable to reach that level is ok thought for you do not need to in order for you to be happy in order to be happy we need to be selfless and un partial.
He teaches us about love and compassion towards others not based on who they are but for their situation but the mere fact that they two are looking for love and happiness. One might say that being happy usually means to have love in your love but I would say although it’s nice, to be in love one must love one’s self. He explains the most basic knowledge in teaching about love: he explains that love will not “work if it is solely based on appearance that it must be based on compassion”. Love is not a tool in which makes you happy but it is a situation in which compassion must strive in order for it to work. Compassion and love are not mere luxuries but a source that is fundamental in the continuous of our survival.
