The Dangers of Drugs and Alcohol Abuse

Archbishop Coleman Carroll High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Miami, Florida. The school was letting out for the summer in 2001. A group of students decided to kick off the summer by hosting a party at a student’s home. The article also suggest that the school should implement regular training for students to impress upon them the dangers of drugs and alcohol abuse and provide them with a safe way to communicate information about a planned event, either to a guidance counselor, trusted teacher or anonymously. They need to be proactive in having clear communication about what are and are not school sponsored events. Students and families should not be permitted to use school communication networks to advertise or invite community members to non school sponsored events. Cleary stated to the faculty that they should be aware that their involvement with such events can create legal liability for themselves and for the school. Engage parents in this process I think is the most important thing in this situation and also for the teachers and administrators to realize that they have been entrusted with a considerable responsibility.
