The Death of Debbie

The Death of Debbie

Wikipedia describes promiscuity as “sexual behavior of a man or woman who casually has sex with many partners” similarly adultery is defined as “the voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and another person who is not his or her spouse”.
In the article “The death of Debbie: Why, God? Why?” by P. Anthony White, Debbie was a beautiful young girl who became sexually active very early in life causing her life to be led astray in many different ways. With an absent father and an indifferent mother I think she was not guided in the proper way. At a very young age her beauty and maturity made her seem to be a lot older than her actual age. Obviously her sense of self worth was in her appearance. Older men always seemed to give her attention and gifts or money. It seems as though her self esteem was based only on her looks and not on who she really was. This supposed “high life” was only the beginning of the downward spiral in her life.
Debbie thought the use of her body towards men was her biggest asset this only produced unwanted and uncared for children ultimately she ended up with a man who had AIDS, and she too contracted the deadly disease. Debbie, a beautiful young woman could have had such a different and better life if only she would have made better choices when faced wit sexual temptations.
Blatant promiscuity is a major downfall in our society today. Unwanted children, disease, and ultimately death are the sad outcomes of this problem. Better and more Godly choices would make an extremely positive change in our society. Despite where we were born, how we were raised and educated we all have choices to make. Choosing to be more selective in our choices and excising restraint in our lives are the first steps towards a change for the better.
