The Effect of Internet on Children

As one of the most prominent symbols of Information Age, internet gets more world-widely used day by day. Take the changes around me for example, I had not touched any computer before college, but I contribute a large amount of online time every week now. Meanwhile, it has drawn people’s attention that the internet affects their children a lot. As far as I’m concerned, the internet has both positive and negative influence on children.
On the one hand, the internet greatly enlarges children’s amount of information, brings them a lot of joy and strengthen their ability of communication.
First, the internet enlarges children’s amount of information. The name of “Information Explosion” is well earned. The time you connect with the internet you are exposed with a sea of information including everything such as catering, costume, digital products and so on. With a computer in hand, children can authentically achieve knowing the world within doors. They can pick out what they need and directly learn it online.
Second, the internet brings children a lot of joy. To watch a movie or listen to music, children no longer need to buy CDs. When they want to have a good rest after study, the internet provides them with abundant resources.
The third effect which is often not obvious, ie., the internet strengthens children’s ability of communication. It is a pity to see children nowadays are isolated by intricate buildings. Children often have little chance to communicate with each other after school. However, powerful communication tools online has made up it more or less. In this way, the internet actually strengthens children’s ability of communication.
On the other hand, the internet has enslaved many children. To take a typical example, it is common to see some children get addicted to computer games. Some children choose to lie and ever rob others just to get more money to surf the internet. They escape from school and family and stay in the vain network all day long....
