Fast food Industries like McDonalds have showed a history of affecting the community for years. Most of these impacts have been bad over the years of fast food service. The fast food industries have all came about for cheap and easy production for a relatively affordable food. This dose not sound bad at all but the fast food is hiding a lot behind are backs that has been hurting the people who buy the products and the people who work there. Fast food industries snuck by things that affect the community some of these things are the technological expansion, selling unhealthy food, and acquiring low wage workers who sometimes are illegal citizens.
Fast food industries advancements are used to discover the perfect locations to sell and use large signs to attract costumers. The way fast food found themselves finding the perfect locations was by the McDonalds chain sending out helicopters to find easy and cheap locations to establish there restaurant. Now at this point they have developed a system Quintillion that gives the satellite imagery and also sales information on land. For example a marketing publication observed “ the software developed by McDonalds permits businessmen to spy on their costumers with the same equipment once used to fight the cold war”(264). This is the same software that involves the helicopters. Where this comes to affect the community is that this industry has the ability to know what we want and how to get us to buy it and we have almost no control over it unless we know what the food. Initially that seems just the same as every other company that we buy from but they also took another step for example, is the fact that. We are being brainwashed is “70 percent of fast food visits are impulsive”(263). The way fast food dealt with this was to put large noticeable signs that will make it easy for us to turn our heads and go buy some food.
