The ban on selfie sticks in South Korea has sent a shock wave of disbelief throughout the media world due to the fact that this newly passed jurisdiction in the country is absolutely ridiculous not only to the selfie using citizens of South Korea, but also to those in other nations who have heard of this policy. Furthermore, according to www.independent.cu.uk a news website that has published an article on the events of the South Korean nation, it seems that the government itself has not bothered to start enforcing this new law to the public yet despite the steep fines and a maximum jail sentence of about 3 years that have been promised to those that are caught with uncertified selfie sticks. Not only does this look sloppy to the rest of the world looking in with amusement, but it also feels rather oppressive to the citizens as well. However, the government of the country has a solid reason as to why it has decided to make this decision and that is because the government has found out just like most of the population that the selfie stick is a device that uses a Bluetooth communication frequency that can and has on some occasion interfered with other technological equipment that taps into some of the same electronic wavelengths such hospital equipment used to monitor patients in critical conditions, as well as some military communication devices used in the country. Due to these reasons among others the government of North Korea has decided to crack down on its citizens.
However, in my personal opinion I view this to be a petty excuse from the South Korean government to show just how controlling the government could be and remind the citizens that they do not hold control of their lives. Because technology is always growing to accommodate the immediate need of the human being such as the selfie stick that enables a large group of people to fit in the frame of a picture that in normal circumstances this same frame would not...
