CRIME IN THE WORLD TODAY
INTRODUCTION
The world today is greatly affected by crime or/and criminal activities of all kinds to the extent that people now live in fear even in the refuge of their homes, since crime is everywhere. Crime affect everyone, innocent or not, young or old, rich or poor. It is a pity that innocent people lose their lives; lose their hard earned money and valuables such as cars and cell phones to people who dwell on criminal acts or intent to live off people. The focus of this will be to explore the field of criminology with reference to the definitions of key terminologies, then to explain criminology as a science and to describe the role of a criminologist. Furthermore the essay will describe crime typology and identify criminological theories in relation to the given case study 2 of Jonathan James respectively and lastly it will outline measures for purpose of redress and reduction of crime.

Miami – A teenage hacker sentenced to six months at a juvenile detention center for invading Nasa and Pentagon computers now regrets what he did. “Never again,” 16 year- old Jonathan James told The Miami Herald. “It’s not worth it, because all of it was for fun and games and they’re putting me in jail for it. I don’t want it to happen again. I can find other stuff for fun”. James told the newspaper he had also hacked into other networks, including BellSouth and the Miami-Dade County school system. His claims could not be verified immediately. Armed federal agents raided his home in January, seizing for desktop computers, a laptop and a hand-held computer.
He was sentenced on Thursday after pleading guilty to invading Nasa computers that support the international space station, as well as Pentagon systems that monitor the potential information nuclear, chemical and biological attacks against the States and its allies. James, known on the internet...
