Even though the second amendment does not help protect our youth from guns, gun laws do not control violence in schools because guns are being brought to schools and laws are not maintained to their fullest by all schools. Gun control has been a controversial issue for years, especially in schools. People believe if we have stronger gun control it will put a stop to school violence. Many people feel if they have the right to bear arms as a mean of protection. These people feel if rights are taken away it is in violation of their Constitutional rights. Taking away gun from all people is violating their right to bear arms. School shootings are on the rise. Take for instance the Columbine School shootings, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold arrived at Columbine High School and parked in the senior parking lot that was not assigned to them with avery good view of the cafeteria and the main entrance of the school. At 11:19 the gunmen pulled out their shotguns and started shooting at students on the grass eating lunch. Harris removed his trench coat and took out a 9mm semi automatic carbine aiming it down the staircase. Harris shot three students walking up the staircase all fell wounded. Then he started shooting at other students on the grass of the schoolyard. Then the Harris and Klebold started a shooting rampage killing everyone in sight. Wikipedia, (November, 2008). World statistics show that most violence among children happens in the United States. Firearms are the most common used in these homicides; especially for young adults the homicide rate is even higher. More young adults now die more from guns than they do from children`s diseases.
